It's great being a part of an organization where you work with passionate and ambitious people that love what they do. Currently, I am the Communications/Outreach Intern for the PLUS ME project and I've learned that in order to achieve your goals you must work hard and never give up.
I started my internship journey feeling great about working with a non-profit organization. I love the fact that PLUS ME motivates and empowers students through personal experiences. I had the opportunity to watch Richard Reyes, our founder, speak to a group of students. It is simply amazing to see how a person can touch so many lives through sharing a story. As I looked at the students in the room, I saw them engaged. I could see through their eyes when they related to his story and when they were inspired,
Personally, I related to Richard's narrative about persevering and working hard to fulfill a dream. High school was a blur for me, but when I went to college I wanted to work hard and get good grades. Trust me, my journey has been long and sometimes it has not been easy, but I know in the long run it's all worth it. I'm currently in my last year of college and I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for me.
If you have the opportunity to hear Richard speak, I promise he will touch your heart in some way, like he did mine.
Here is a photo I snapped of Richard's presentation at Ramon Cortines School of Visual and Performing Arts on Tuesday.
Keep an eye out for future posts by me that will highlight my journey with the PLUS ME project.
Until next time,
