ROSA CASTRO
 BOARD PRESIDENT

Raised in Compton and a current resident of Altadena, Rosa Castro earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from California State University, Fullerton. She is also close to completing her master’s degree in statistics from Colorado State University. Ms. Castro is presently an Inspection Trip Manager at the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. She is responsible for acquainting stakeholders with current water issues and Metropolitan's role in responding to those issues. Rosa is also an elected union board member of the AFSCME Local 1001.

BRIAN CAMPAIN
​BOARD VICE PRESIDENT

Brian Campain is the Managing Director of Recruitment and Admissions for City Year’s West Region. He is responsible for the overall recruitment of all new AmeriCorps members, as well as, the admissions process for each of his 4 sites in the West Region. Prior to this, Mr. Campain has worked in the corporate world in different aspects of sales for Fortune 500 companies. He received his Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of California, Santa Barbara and in 2004, he received his M.B.A. Brian is a true native of Los Angeles and resides in Sherman Oaks with his wife and 2 kids.

BRYANT YU
BOARD TREASURER

Bryant Yu is a Vice-President at FocalPoint Partners, a leading full-service investment bank, based in Los Angeles. He brings extensive investment banking and private equity experience, advising and executing middle–market transactions. Prior to joining FocalPoint, he advised governmental and not-for-profit organizations on nearly $3 billion of aggregate consideration at Prager, Sealy & Co., LLC. Mr. Yu graduated with a B.S. in electrical engineering and computer science from
University of California, Berkeley.

TINA PATEL
BOARD SECRETARY

A native to Los Angeles county, Tina earned her Doctor of Pharmacy and Master of Public Health degrees from the University of Southern California. She has developed a passion for addressing the needs for her community, first as a pharmacy student in creating a free clinic for basic health screenings and then as a pharmacist working in East LA, including Skid Row, to help manage chronic disease states. Currently Ms. Patel is working at a large healthcare organization as a clinical pharmacist.

BETH BYTHROW
 BOARD MEMBER

Beth Bythrow is the School Leader Growth and Development (SLGD) Administrator in the Talent Management Division of the Los Angeles Unified School District. Ms. Bythrow assists in the development of tools and protocols, coordinates the implementation of SLGD Cycle, and supports the collaboration of Instructional Directors and Principals. Prior to this position she was a Teaching and Learning Coordinator, an LAUSD principal for ten years, and a classroom teacher for eighteen years.

ABENI CARR
BOARD MEMBER

Abeni Carr received her B.A. in English from California State University, Northridge and obtained her teaching credential and Master's in Education at California State University, Los Angeles. She is currently a doctoral student in Educational Leadership and the Director of College Counseling and Post Secondary Transition at Los Angeles Education Corps. She has held several positions in the education and nonprofit sector ranging from high school teacher, site coordinator for an after school program, and as a consultant for after school programs.

CHRISTIAN ENTEZARI
BOARD MEMBER

Christian Entezari is the Senior Manager of Data & Analytics at the California Charter Schools Association. In this role, her focus is on data analysis and reporting of CCSA's advocacy and political engagements. Formerly, she was assigned to the White House Promise Neighborhood initiative with the Youth Policy Institute, where she facilitated partnerships with subcontracted organizations in the advancement of the Obama initiative on poverty and education. Christian holds two bachelors from Purdue University and Indiana University in Psychology & Sociology, respectively.Christian lives in Downtown LA with her husband and 2 dogs.

JAY NG
BOARD MEMBER

Jay Ng is an associate at Crescent Capital Group, a Los Angeles-based alternative investment manager with $25 billion asset under management. He is responsible for evaluating and executing mezzanine investments in leverage buyout transactions. Prior to Crescent, Jay was an investment analyst at Northwestern Mutual Capital, focusing on private equity and debt.  Jay received his Bachelor of Science in Finance and Economic Consulting from Indiana University Bloomington. Outside of his professional life, Jay enjoys travels and the outdoors and he is passionate about education and youth empowerment.

LILIAN MILLER
BOARD MEMBER

Lilian Miller earned a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from New York University and currently serves as the manager of development operations at The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts. Throughout her career she has worked to align development strategy with philanthropic interests of corporations, foundation, and individuals. Among her prior roles, she recently was a Director at The LA Fund for Public education, which implemented large-scale programs and initiatives within Los Angeles Unified School District.

DIANE NGUYEN
BOARD MEMBER

Diane Nguyen is a PR & Social Media Manager at IW Group, Inc., a leading advertising agency specializing in multi-cultural campaigns, based in Los Angeles. With more than nine years of experience in the non-profit sector, she brings extensive fundraising and strategic development experience to the team. Ms. Nguyen received her B.A. in Public Relations from Central Washington University. She is also a member of the Junior League of Los Angeles (JLLA) and in her spare time, she enjoys cooking and cheering on her Seattle Seahawks.

W. PATRICK McPHILAMY III
BOARD MEMBER

W. Patrick McPhilamy, III is an attorney and has been in practice for over 24 years as Principal Attorney of the Law Office of W. Patrick McPhilamy, III, located in Pasadena. He also has substantial experience serving on and working with the board of directors of several organizations. He earned a Master of Law degree from the University of Cambridge, a Juris Doctor degree from California Western School of Law, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. He also received a Diploma, Institute on International and Comparative Law in London, England from the University of San Diego School of Law, and he studied law for a summer at the University of Oxford.

JESUS PRADO
BOARD MEMBER

Jesus earned his bachelor's degree in chicano/a studies and minor in education at University of California Los Angeles and completed a master's degree in school based family counseling at California State University Los Angeles.  He has sixteen years of experience working in all levels of education.  Mr. Prado currently serves as the manager of college counseling at Alliance College Ready Public Schools where he has led the development of counselor support systems and the overall framework of the Alliance's counseling program.  He was born and raised in Monterey Park where he now resides with his wife and two daughters.
